My approach is to assist couples in reducing negative interactions and increasing a sense of appreciation and secure attachment. Through this work, couples are able to improve communication and compassion, identify triggers, and learn to recognize and take responsibility for their own behaviors. The goal is for couples to feel that the relationship is the emotional safe haven of support and love.
Couples can often create new ways of relating and develop more healthy and loving relationships. Couples can move from distance and discouragement to feeling that they again treasure and delight in each other.
In some cases, I can provide counseling and resources for specific issues in brief therapy of one to six sessions. Also, you may want to look at some of the recommended reading listed on this site as a way to begin thinking about how to make positive changes.
